Hike and Camp with Your Dog in Oregon Welcome to Justine's picks on where to hike with your dog In Oregon and Washington. I have promised my clients this page for years, besides places to go, it will have dog information and trivia about comfort for your dog. ****
I have hiked in the NW for years with my dogs, this year 2007, I intend to revisit a lot of favorite spots, so stay tuned for new places and ideas. You can buy a lot of books, but most of these places are not in a book. |

I like to take a lot of photos, so my dogs are great at posing, for once I was caught on camera. This was taken on a cliff beach walk. Drive to Cannon Beach. Drive up hill to Ecola State Park. From the parking lot its a mile and 1/2 walk to Short Sand Beach, a very pleasant walk, you need boots and hiking stick. Short Sand beach is a great place to run dogs. Easier than Cannon beach. Dogs are on a ten foot long line, we are near the edge of the cliff, be very surprised if this walk exists after a few more storms. ***Not a good children under 10 walk, need boots, stick, time for walk, plus photos one hour. Steep down hill, return is good for strong walkers, or send a driver down with the car like we did.
The fur crew is getting older, so this year they got warm up jackets to wear when the wind blows, and after we exercise. If dogs could talk, they would ask what took me so long to get smart. They all seem to like their jackets. Be sure the jacket is long enough to cover down the butt, imagine walking around with your pants off and the wind blowing. ***** Suggest you buy your dog a jacket for after exercise, or the wind and cold sets in . See the links page for these.***
We love the beach!
Getting ready for a garden stroll in inner Portland, walking the garden areas on Sunday morning is one of my favorite hikes, the Sellwood area is especially beautiful.
Hiking Cape Look Out, its steep and pretty! Take the rain coat!
Leo loves the tent, he has trouble jumping over the door frame, the dog that jumps agility so easily, but once he is in he is soo happy and comfy in his personal tent.
The Metolius river is out absolute favorite spot, this was taken at the fish hatchery, Camp Sherman is just the best place for camping, hiking bird watching and sitting in a chair watching the world go by. Leo and Kells are soo happy, they recognize the pack and walking stick.
