Join Justine for Introduction to Manners for the Hunting Labrador For labs 6 to 12 months with no aggression issues. Class Limit 5 dogs. Justine returns to her dog training roots with this class. She started training hunting dogs when she was 14, and never lost her love for field work. Years of experience with dogs will help you get the best out of your hunting buddy. Classes will be fast paced, with homework. Hunting dogs need a complete understanding of their job duties, expectations which you can train! Justine will help you master the skills for lifetime of doggy manners. Why send your dog away to a trainer when you can do the foundation work yourself? Gain confidence in working your dog, and establishing the necessary control and respect in your youngster that makes for a great partnership. Class lessons will include basic foundation work, no pulling on leashes, heeling, downs, stays and total house and truck manners. Then, introduction to whistles, hand signals, and basic dummy drills. This class will run for five weeks. Class is one hour, with an extra 30 minutes of work time for drills and assistance. There will be home drills, of 5 -15 minutes a day. The expectation of the trainer is that you will go home and do each weeks homework, and not just train in class. The more you train, the more I can train you and your dog. Justine is experienced with a lot of training tools, we will discuss and practice the power of positive training, and if/when correctives are needed how to administer correctives in a fashion the dog understands. Training with E collars will be covered. Your hunting partner is your buddy for years, we want your dog to trust your directions, and a good foundation class can make that happen. You will need to bring to class a comfortable chair and wear clothing suited to the weather in horse barn in October. Bring a water container for your dog, and water for yourself. Dog must be on some kind of short leash. No free running dogs and no flexible leashes. For the all classes you must bring a hungry dog, that has been pottied, and acceptable training treats, ask Justine about what you have. This is an intensive class for the adult learner, not suitable to under age 16. All minors must have adult guardian present. Spectators with permission only. If class does not fill with labs, other hunt dogs accepted, dummy work is consistent with basic pointer and setter standards.
